Rebecca and Jonny live with their two dogs (their two boys having flown the nest) in what was once the Old Village Stores, surrounded by their eclectic collections of vintage children's books, balloon pumps & 1950's ceramics.

The youngest son of two German jewish refugees , Jonny Mendelsson was born on the day the Russians invaded Czechoslovakia. Surrounded by picture books as a child and an older sister studying graphic design, art was an abiding presence. One holiday took the family to Czechoslovakia, where as a nine year old Jonny encountered the puppets of Jiri Trnka. His work left a lasting impression and was the catalyst that inspired a career in art. After studying ceramics at secondary school he went on to  Liverpool school of art where he met Rebecca.  On graduating Jonny pursued a career in Illustration, creating images for clients across the globe.  Then began a long standing passion for collecting and he began to trade in vintage toys, ceramics and design classics, online. 

Illustrator and artist, Rebecca Gibbon was born in Wales, the youngest of four children & was fed on a diet of picture books by Edward Ardizzone, Roger Duvoisin & Richard Scarry; she dreamt of being an illustrator. Her ambition was realised after gaining a first class Honours degree from John Moores University and consequently a Masters at Royal College of Art, London. While at the RCA she was spotted at a childrens book expo in Paris by a French Agent. Since graduating she has worked all over the globe and has illustrated over 10 Children’s Books. Rebecca paints in watercolour ink & coloured pencil, and bases her characters on the people she has met and seen over the years. Now we have the joy of her illustrations in 3-D as they come to life in the form of the Critter Collective.
