Toleware (or Tôle Peinte) refers to decorative household items made from painted and lacquered sheet metal, typically tin, popular from the 18th to 19th centuries and revived later, known for imitating Japanese lacquerware with colourful designs, gilding, and stencilling on dark backgrounds, used for items like trays, lamps, canisters, and urns, blending affordability with decorative appeal.
