Transylvanian hand-embroidered oval mat

Hungarian irásos (written) embroidery is a folk style which originated in Transylvania in the late 18th century. It consists of a dense chain stitch in one colour, often red, and this method was passed down from generation to generation.

Material: Base Hemp, embroidery wool. Size: 42 x 22 cm. Care: handwash in cold water. Take special care as this is a vintage and so very delicate product.
