Beautifully hand-painted by Emilia. Born in Sighisoara, Transylvania - the Land of the Woods - she has a deep love of nature and the environment. Her designs are based on a mix of Saxon and Romanian traditional patterns that adorned furniture and household utensils in years gone by and are especially inspired by those from Malancrav, a village in Sibiu county dating back to 1906, as well as others from Brasov county.

PRODUCT INFO
The Saxon folk art tradition of painted woodwork dates back to the Middle Ages and reached its peak in the 19th century. It's development was enhanced by the formation of the Saxon Guilds which organised training of the craftsmen and brought new techniques and skills to Transylvania from Austria, Bavaria, Tyrol and Italy. So the patterns that developed included both foreign and local folk heritage.
