Vintage Danish enamel Madam Blå soda caddy
£19.00
A lovely rustic addition for your kitchen shelves, handmade in Denmark in the iconic Madame Blå colour blue. It has some rust and bald patches but these are marks of it's age and add to it's character. There are also minor surface irregularities and unfinished edges but these are a normal result of the metalworking and enamelling process.

PRODUCT INFO
Enamelware has been expertly-crafted artisan wear for thousands of years longer than it's been functional gear in the wilderness. The benefits of these artfully crafted goods, from aesthetic appeal to long-lasting functionality, are what given enameled pieces enduring value throughout history. Enamel, or vitreous enamel, is made by fusing powdered glass to a surface like metal, clay, or stone by firing it in a 2000 degree Fahrenheit oven. As the powdered glass heats up and melts, it binds to the iron surface in a coating-like fashion to create a smooth, non-porous, and non-stick finish.
In 1895, Danish ironmongers Glud & Marstrand started making enamelled kitchen equipment and quickly got famous for their Madam Blå coffee pot. Madam Blå turned into an iconic line of kitchenware which deservedly earned it it’s place in the Danish National Museum.
Each piece is handmade, unique and can last for generations. Every use will leave a subtle mark, so every story and every adventure can be passed on to your children and grandchildren
